Otto Nicholai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor (sung in English) – audition details

We are preparing our Spring concert and you may be interested in auditioning for one of the roles in The Merry Wives of Windsor, a comic opera by Otto Nicholai.

There will be two performances – with our brand of mixed casting in which more than one singer will sing a role in the evening. This has been very successful in the past with our 2018 performances of L’Elisir d’Amore. The participants will all have the opportunity to learn and sing entire roles.

Performances will be on score in English. Soloists will be expected to sing in the chorus when they are not singing as a soloist.

We rehearse on Thursday evenings (6.30-9.30pm) at St Etheldreda’s Church in Fulham (528 Fulham Palace Road, London SW6 6JF).

Our fees are currently £90 per term and that covers our professional staff expenses/venue hire etc – we are not-for-profit and our motives are purely to provide performance opportunities for singers. Please see our website to further understand what opportunities we are offering.

Auditions will be held on Thursday 4th November 2021 at St Etheldreda’s Church (address above) between 6.30pm and 9.30pm. Please apply for a slot by email to with “Merry Wives audition request” in the subject line.

Auditionees will be expected to sing music as listed below ( click on the link for the PDF), and also please prepare an additional aria that showcases your voice. (If the music has another voice, that will be sung in at the audition.)
